About us

Welcome to the Cen10Now website! Centennial High School's student-run newspaper. Our articles will encompass many topics such as news, reviews, events, advice and photography. These articles, written by our fantastic staff, will be published here each week.

Club members will be taught how to write an article, how to properly cite information, work ethics, deadlines, and professional photography. Club meetings will be during lunch on Mondays in Room 952 or in the 900's hallway upstairs. We are always looking for more Writers, Photographers, Reporters, Interviewers or anyone else who would like to contribute. Articles can count as one hour of community service. If you are interesting in joining, email us at cen10now@gmail.com or come to a Monday meeting during your lunch. We look forward to keeping you informed on all things Centennial!

Jasmine Bae - President, editor in chief

Jasmine Bae is an 11th grade DP student, and the president and executive editor of Cen10Now. She enjoys writing, editing articles, taking pictures for Cen10Now. She also enjoys YA novels, movies, and playing the piano in her free time. She is also a big foodie and loves salsa.“Puns are the highest form of literature.” ― Alfred Hitchcock

Blake Torres - Vice president, Editor in Chief

Blake Torres is currently an 11th grade IB student and the editor-in-chief of Cen10Now. In his free time, he enjoys yoga and his dog, Rango. His current favorite shows include: "Seinfeld", "The Office", and "30 Rock". While not watching television, he enjoys his homework and other productive activities of the sort, like fishing. "Hi Blake" - Jerry Seinfeld

holland snipes - Vice President, advice head editor

Holland Snipes is an 11th grade DP student who is known by others as ''Holly''. She enjoys participating in Centennial's theatre program, playing with her cat Spooka, and seeing the lovely shade of purple from her eye bags. ''A day without sunshine is like, you know, night''- Steve Martin

Westin montano - Secretary/treasurer

Westin Montano is an 11th grade DP student at Centennial High. He has a lot of experience in video editing and writing, which are reflected by his grades on his AP World History essays. He enjoys animating, drawing, and playing Pokémon and League of Legends.

chloe santos - historian

Chloe Santos is a 10th grade MYP student and Historian of Cen10Now. She is in two of Centennial’s choirs and loves playing piano, guitar, ukulele, painting, and performing. When she is not crying due to stress, she likes creating memes about self deprecation and has an obsession for
Christmas. Her favorite shows are Chill with Bob Ross, My Hero Academia, Steven Universe, and The Magicians. She also has a strange love for sour cream and the Percy Jackson book series.“It’s so frustrating when no one else sees everything you see.” –Finding Neverland

Benjamin Denzler - entertainment head editor

AP and Honors student, likes running and weightlifting, cooking, video games and TV. Is pretty good at writing, wants to go to UC Irvine (maybe). "Learning happens in the minds and souls, not in the databases of multiple-choice tests." - Ken Robinson

Marisa Moran - News Head editor

Marisa Moran is an 11th grade IB student. Most of her time is spent trying not to procrastinate on her homework, but when she's not doing that she's probably reading, watching TV, or participating in the theatre department.

Vivian kong -  photography head editor

Philopataer iweda - News Reporter, Entertainment columnist

"Phil" Hanna is an 11th grade MYP student who is also a consumer of video games, music. and movies. Some of his hobbies include sleep and even more sleep. "I'm not a bad man but sometimes I must ask what would a bad man do?" - Anonymous.

Huma khan - News reporter

Huma Khan is an 11th grade DP student at Centennial High School. She enjoys playing with her three birds and is very interested in the fields of law, aeronautics, and medicine. She is currently plays the clarinet in marching band at Centennial. She is also the treasurer of the Mock Trial Club and is a prosecution attorney as well as an expert witness for their defense. In her free time she enjoys coding and eating.

Angel Chen

Angel Chen is 16 years old and is currently in the 11th grade at Centennial High. She in the IB DP program and has great interests in public speaking, political debate, cross country and ice hockey. She is very grateful to be part of the school XC team, JSA Chapter, and Cen10Now."Today I will do what others won't and tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't" - Anonymous

Crystal Vasquez is a 10th grade MYP student who is in Centennial's Theatre Program. She likes to watch Supernatural and read books. "Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole" - Eric Kripke

Emily valenzuela

Emily Valenzuela is a 10th grade MYP student with a passion for the arts. She especially enjoys the written and visual arts, focusing mainly on loves writing or drawing. Having a past in sports such as gymnastics and soccer, she is also currently training in Taekwondo. In her free time, she draws, creates stories, and plays with her dog Sundae. "Art is the only way to run away without leaving home." - Twyla Tharp


Isabella Avila

Isabella Avila or "Bella" as some people call her is an 11th grader at Centennial High School. She loves to read, hike and go to the beach whenever she is not busy doing homework or catching up on her sleep. "Say yes to new adventures" - Anonymous 

William Chen

William Chen is a 14-year old Sophomore AP student in the IB MYP program. He is the secretary of Science Club and is involved in Sounds Club, Hospice, and FBLA. His favorite book is Atlas Shrugged, favorite movie is the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, favorite game is Borderlands 2, favorite graphic novel is Watchmen, and favorite song is Come a Little Closer. He has a lot of free time with not much to do— save for sleeping, studying, and being a relatively introverted moviegoer and fanatic of comic books. Giselle Vargas 

Giselle Vargas is an 11th grade IB DP student who plays in Centennial’s marching band. She enjoys running as well as any other physical activity. Her favorite foods are chocolate and Fettuccine Alfredo. She enjoys being with family, hanging out with friends, and listening to music.

Caroline Valencia - PHOTOGRAPHER

Caroline is a 10th grade MYP student who is also in Upward Bound, design club, art club, and the Centennial Swimming Team. She really enjoys eating food, sleeping, hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, and editing both videos and photos. She is weird, but she doesn't consider it negatively, she believes it makes her unique. "When life gives you lemons grab them and throw them at people." - Caroline Valencia


Danielle Atkinson

Danielle Atkinson is an 11th grade IB DP student who, despite common belief, sleeps only most of the time. In her free time, she reads books of various genres (but her favorites are the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Lost Prince), critiques video games, enjoys homework and photography, involves herself with clubs, and loves water-polo and surfing. She is fond of the ocean and a has fascination for science. Danielle interests include biology, chemistry, astronomy, physics, and environmental studies. She is capable of not sleeping for a week, only to then enter hibernation for one day, despite having high activity during mornings. "I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." - John Muir


Christian Alaniz

Christian “Chris” Alaniz enjoys being involved in activities in and around school. When he's not writing news articles, he's swimming, doing his homework, hanging out with friends, enjoying family, or just living life to the fullest. He joined the swim team over a year ago, and its one of his favorite pastimes. "Though I’m no Michael Phelps, I enjoy getting in the water and practicing, because it takes discipline and determination. Its taught me what you put in is what you get out, which is something I can apply to a lot of things. Being part of a team is amazing!"  -Chris


Marian Walker 

Marian Walker is one of those people that will believe in something just because it came from a fortune cookie! She enjoys underground films, music, art, and storytelling. Her life goal is to become a dentist and to help people. Some of the countries she plans on visiting are Iceland (fingers crossed for 2019!), Indonesia, Greece, and India.
